Our Associates

Belk seeks to attract, hire and retain talented people to help us achieve our vision and mission. We recognize and respect the individuality, diversity of thought and varied experience of our associates, and believe this is imperative to achieving a productive and attractive work environment.

We promote our associates based on performance and encourage ongoing career growth and advancement. Initiatives that include associate involvement are:

• Our mentoring program provides new associates with one-on-one personal and professional development opportunities by pairing associates of varying experience levels and knowledge together with the goal of mutual personal, professional and career growth.
• All Belk management and associates receive diversity training and information on an ongoing basis through the company’s orientation and development programs.
• Diversity Champion leaders and committees in each of the company’s four operating divisions conduct diversity programs and activities for associates of Belk stores, distribution centers and division offices.
• The Belk Celebrates Cultural Diversity (BCCD) Committee plans educational and awareness events throughout the year for the company’s corporate office associates.

Our Suppliers

Belk’s supplier diversity program seeks to enhance the representation of women and minority-owned businesses in our vendor relationships.

Our Community

Through store based, regional and corporate community involvement initiatives, Belk makes a positive difference in all the markets it serves. Our support is demonstrated in many ways, including charitable donations, leadership and volunteer efforts in charitable and community service organizations.
