Disappointed 25+yr user from
Quality is GONE!I've worn Florsheim Riva slip-ons for 25 to 35 years, and before I retired I wore a pair or two every weekday and got several years out of them. I bought a pair just after I retired and wore them fairly infrequently (mostly wearing sneakers or sandals) and a pair lasted slightly over 10 years! I bought a pair two and half years ago and wore them even more infrequently, but the heel and part of the arch of the right shoe disintegrated a few days ago. There was very little wear on the rest of the sole. The uppers look like they are brand new out of the store. I see that they are made in India now. I wonder where my previous Rivas were made. I'll be writing Florsheim about this.

Thank You!!I want to say thanks for your online sales. My father - 70 years young and legally blind has worn Florsheim shoes since he was 19 years old. About two years ago he was told by a retailer that was closing their business that the "Riva" line had been discontinued - needless to say he was not happy. I finally came to your website after countless complaints by my father and I found out the shoes were not discontinued - I ordered them in the color he asked for [black] and had them sent directly to his house in TN. They arrived in about 3 days and my father was so happy you would have thought he won the lottery. Thanks again. Bill S. St. Louis, MO

also disappointed from
long-time Florsheim fanI had almost the identical experience to "disappointed 25 plus year user"only it was the inside of the heel of the left shoe that disintergrated. I have owned several pairs of this shoe, but something has gone amiss with quality control. The rest of the shoe looks brand new.
I don't think that this is typical of all Florsheim shoes and would really like to have another pair of the Rivas, but at this point, I'm a little hesitant to go to the well again.

Comfortable But Cannot be RepairedI've had several pairs of Rivas over the years and I have found them to be very comfortable and the upper leather is very durable. However, the soles of these shoes tend to develop "cracks" after a year or two of use (as the "rubber" dries out), and more importantly, unlike Florshiem's leather-soled shoes (for example, the Como), these soles cannot be replaced (as you can with leather soles). None of my local shoe repair stores are able to replace the soles, and when I contacted Florsheim about getting soles for refurbishment, they indicated that they do not provide replacement soles. So, be forewarned...

Sole can have a very short lifeI consider this a dressy enough shoe to wear with a suit or sport coat and purchased two pair, one in black and one in brown. I rarely dress up enough to wear them so they only get worn on special occasions or on formal nights when cruising. The black pair has held up fine. The sole on the brown pair literally cracked and chunks literally fell out of the shoe while wearing on a cruise. I'd say they have been worn maybe a dozen times over a seven year period. I really thought these would last forever. The soles have no wear, but just fell apart. Very disappointing.

Riva So comforatableI am a chiropractor in practice and college professor. Therefore I am on my feet and have reached the age where comfort is as important as style. I have another pair of Florsheims that is more casual but the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I could run in them if I had to. I was hoping the Rivas would be like them but I have to say for a dress shoe, it still has a great deal of cushion. My feet no longer ache at the end of the day. I returned a pair to another company after getting the Rivas. I had the other pair (company well known for comfort) for over a month and they were not nearly as comfortable as the Rivas.

noneI only want to know, what guarantee we have with the shoes, the last pairs I bought for my husband, yesterday we were going out, he used the shoes only 2 times before yesterday, the shoes were coming a part all over, new shoes, we are married for the past 41 years, and I always bought him the same brand shoes, a pair in black and a pair, I called (burgundy)because he find them very comfortable, the blacks in a wedding the sole started to come apart, and yesterday, the (burgundy) the top, were coming a part, when he put them on., he has an old pair, (burgundy), that he loves them, and that pair is more than 15 years old.... but this last two pairs, I can't remember if we bought those in New York, or Florida, no luck with them., is there any guarantee? Please let me know. Thank you, Arturo and Ibis Pozo

Can't Use the Shoes-Insole not Removable as I was ToldShoes look fine but unable to use them because the insole cannot be removed as I was told it could be by an online customer service agent. I specifically asked for help finding options for loafers where the insole could be removed because I use special shoe inserts. The online chat person was very helpful....or so I thought in identifying options. The only problem is, the key wording they mentioned (I believe it was permanent insole or something like that) that would tell me the insole was NOT removable did not work. He told me any shoes that didn't say that the insoles were removable. We avoided that wording...but still I would have to destroy a brand new pair of shoes to use my inserts.
