2 types of ParabensI just received the jar of Lip Balm #1 in the mail yesterday. I have always heard good things about the product and as a lip balm "junkie", I was excited to try it. I like the texture and lack of fragrance but I was very disappointed to see it has 2 types of parabens in the ingredient listing. I would not have bought it if I had known that. The listing of "key ingredients" online does not mention the parabens, as I had made sure to check prior to purchasing. Clearly parabens are not considered "key", but it should be mentioned that they are ingredients in the product as this may influence others decision to buy.

Not just petroleumI see some reviews saying it's expensive "petroleum", however this is just plain wrong. If you look at the ingredients (and know a thing or two about them) you'll see that the next largest ingredient in the balm is squalane and then lanolin. Both of these ingredients are known to be extremely moisturizing.
It's a fantastic product to put a bunch on at night (for a guy). This brings me to my only complaint, and that it is very glossy. Can't really ding it too much for this however, since it is petroleum based. I use this at night then kiehl's no shine balm during the day to minimize the "many with lip gloss" effect.

Not RecommendableFirst of all I have to say that I'm a real kiehl's addict!!!
So I'm sorry to say that, allthough the texture of this product is gorgeous, I was really disappointed as I came to read its list of increadiences.... the main component of this lip balm is paraffin which is an extract of petroleum. (my mother tongue is german, so I hope I'm using the right vocabulary) I'm aware that lots of cosmetic products contain this increadience, but personally I have to say that I'm not inclined to use this on my lips.
However, I've already tried lots of kiehl's products yet, but this is the first one I'm quite dissatisfied with.

My Favorite!!!!This is by far the best lip balm I have ever tried. I have tried so many different brands, types and price ranges. I however prefer the pot to the tube. The balm lasts for quite a while and my lips feel moisturized even after it has worn off. I love that there is no funny smell or taste. I wear it under lip stick, glosses or on its own. It has just enough shine without looking un-natural. I feel like the balm is a great value for the price. I have paid more than this and had awful results from other balms. This is definitely my go to beauty product. I am never without it. The fact that it has just enough SPF is just icing on the cake. Thank you Kiehl's for "My" #1 Lip Balm.

It's OkayI feel like this product and I have a love/hate relationship. Personally I feel that this product is very similar to Vaseline texture wise, but with a few added benefits ingredients wise. This Lip Balm WILL leave your mouth looking like you sucked on a gallon of bacon grease if your not careful. Even if you are careful - you will have a slight sheen. This is the reason I use this product before bed.
Great against chapped lips to help create a protective layer before it gets worse!
Buy it, Try it, if you don't like it - move on. Priced to not break the bank, but absolutely one to not overlook.

No Applicator TipI got a promo of this product to try and I can't tell the difference between it and Vaseline. It's just the same, kind of greasy lip balm that you would expect. Nothing fancy in regards to texture or scent.
The crazy thing is that it has a tip like a toothpaste tube, so it's awkward and difficult to dispense and apply. In the summer months, it liquifies in the heat of the car, then when you try to put it on, it drips and runs all over, then gets all over your hands.
It's messy and not worth the price, your better off using something with an actual applicator tip.

Fabulous moisturizer, but please bring back the lip gloss line and the mineral mascaraThis is a great lip moisturizer, but it is not a lip gloss. Kiehls' LIP GLOSS LINE was incomparable, with a scintillating set of shades and effects that matched all skin types and tones. The MINERAL MASCARA was exceptional -- my lashes grew longer and thicker as a result of wearing it. KIEHLS MUST BRING THESE PRODUCTS BACK -- INGREDIENT IMPROVEMENTS ARE NOT NECESSARY. For people with extremely sensitive skin, they were a godsend -- they nourised and looked better than anything else on the market. This was the only line of makeup I could sleep in -- BRING THE LIP GLOSSES AND MINERAL MASCARA BACK!!!

Long-lasting moisture, excellent valueI love this stuff. I have been using it forever and my lips are healthy and soft, even through countless colds, allergies, and other conditions that would usually render my lips chapped and raw. I carry it with me in my handbag; keep some nearby my side of the couch; and store it right above my bed so it's the last thing I use before I sleep. A little goes a long way and it's absorbed very quickly with immediate results. It helps to keep colds sores from becoming cracked and dry and makes an excellent cuticle moisturizer. It may sound pricey but one tube lasts forever and, for its multitude of uses, is worth ever penny.
