Rated 5 out of 5 by CynthiaT from Absolutely Beautiful I purchased 2 sets while they were on sale for $99. each for a setting of 8 and I couldn't be happier. I'd been looking for just the right dishes for months before settling on Mikasa and French Countryside. These are timeless, classic, and just beautiful and I will be using them for everyday dishes. Even my adult children love them. I did not want the optic white dishes that are so popular. These are not traditional white, or even creamy white, these are more what I'd call stone because they definitely have more tan and gray than typical eggshell, and they go with everything. Instead of using the salad plates that come with the sets, each season I will use "seasonal" salad plates so I have a unique look. My first time using them was for Easter and I have "bunny spring-looking" salad plates and got many compliments. As far as shipping: They were packed tightly in a box without any cushion around the inside box of dishes and one bowl broke during shipping, and one dinner plate had a flaw in the color as it had several black dots under the glaze. As I ordered these online and I don't have a Belk store within 3 hours of where I live, Belk sent out a complete replacement setting of 4 to me instead of just replacing the bowl and plate. Thank you Belk! That certainly was unexpected and above and beyond. You just can't beat Belk's customer service. Unfortunately, one dinner plate was broken down the middle in this shipment but since they were free I can't complain. I do think the Mikasa box needs to be in a "padded" brown box for shipping with the words FRAGILE all over it and not just stuck in a brown shipping box that fits snug against the Mikasa box. There was little protection from breakage. I'm in my late 50's so these will most likely be the last set of dishes I get and I'm thrilled with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BJHW from Cracking Glaze I bought these dishes about 17 years ago. 16 place settings, platter, vegetable bowl, covered casserole, coffee server, pitcher, salt & pepper. Beautiful dishes! This is the problem: the glaze started cracking on the plates, dessert plates and soup/cereal bowls after only a couple of years. I never use heat dry in the dishwasher so I know that is not the problem. My friend bought the same pattern when I did and has the same problem although she doesn't use hers as often so her glaze started cracking a little later. The plates, bowls and dessert plates need to be hand-washed to prevent this. Cups do fine in the dishwasher. They need to improve the glaze or remove the dishwasher safe label. I loved the color, the pattern, the versatility but they are ugly when the glaze cracks. Very expensive to replace the cracked pieces and I have invested in all those serving pieces. Love Belk. Very disappointed in Mikasa!
