Rated 4 out of 5 by Bryan from 12 inch cast iron skillet I've had this skillet for about 2 months now and am loving it! I will say that the non stick on it when I got it was not very non stick but after a good amount of love and attention nothing sticks to it anymore. I use it at least 4 to 5 days a week for everything from steak to seafood to eggs and deserts and it puts up with everything. I can hit it with any amount of heat I hit it with on the stove top, in the oven, under the broiler and any combo of the 3. I personally have no issues with the length of the handle. If what I am making is on the heavier side I use both handles and have no problem at all. Well worth what my wife spent and an awesome (early) Christmas present that I think will stay in my family for a very long time! Thanks for the great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jamie from Calphalon Pre-seasoned Cast Iron Fry pan I bought this pan a few years ago to try out a new recipe that called for a cast iron pan to go from stove top to oven. This pan is very similar to the one your grandmother probably used to cook every meal in her kitchen. With a little love and care, it will last you forever. Yes, you will have to keep it seasoned, or it will stick. But keeping it clean with a good scrub and hot water and drying it afterward will protect the surface. If it looks like it's lost some of its sheen, simply wipe a coat of oil onto the interior surface after drying it. Oh, by the way, the pineapple upside down cake I bought it for fell right out when I inverted it onto the plate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PAB28 from Happy I bought this pan! I bought the pre-seasoned cast iron skillet as I had been wanting one for some time and I am very pleased with it. It is not a heavy as regular cast iron, and so far, non-stick. I like the short handle and the extra lip as it aids in transferring from stove top to oven. The rounded sides are a plus for large cuts of mean and for pouring meat juices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Linny from Just purchased and egg omelet stuck to pan Pre-Seasoned pan did not resist sticking as stated on packaging. Followed the preheating instructions prior to cooking an omelet. After allowing pan to cool after cooking, I used a plastic scraper and hot water per cleaning instructions and unable to remove food residue sticking to the pan. Very disappointed in the product performance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kam83 from Cast Iron 12-inch Pan Good quality, but the handle is a bit short and undersized for the size and weight of the pan.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jack from Durable But Not Rust Proof I am a bachelor and fairly good cook. On an electric stove I cannot put the heat over medium because the preseasoned oil gets smokey and sets off my fire alarm. I got this as my only frying pan. I use it for searing meat and fish, frying eggs, and making pancakes. There's no nonstick. Also, not dishwasher safe. Even so, with handwashing it gets rusty. Will last a long time if the rust does not become too much. Would recommend this pan for frying steak or thick cuts of meat. That's about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Duntov from Well Designed It is amazing the negative about the short handle. It is suppose to be short so it can easily fit in the oven and that is why there are TWO handles. And a complaint about cast iron rusting? Really? Do not put cast iron in a dishwasher and keep it seasoned. If you don't understand cast iron, do not buy it and then complain. Sheesh.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Minnie from Disapointed Do not expect too much. I have already returned the one I ordered. It isn't non stick & if your heat unit is not as big as the pan,the outer part isn't as hot .
