Guerlain's most successful and enduring fragrance was created by Jacques Guerlain at a time when fascination with the orient was sweeping Europe. Inspired by the love of an Indian Emperor for his magnificent wife, Mumtaz-Mahal - for whom the Taj Mahal was built - Shalimar is named after 'The Gardens of Shalimar,' where their love grew. A deliciously fresh flight becomes hazy and sensual when the vanilla and powdery notes of its sweet, sensual base are discovered. This parfum has a high concentration of the precious essential oils that create the fragrance. Just a dab of the parfum lends the wearer a true, long lasting scent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Niikki from TOTALLY AGREE W. OTHERS Absolutely timeless. From my mom, to me, and now my daughter is sneaking into my Parfum. Purchased her the EDP Jagger bottle one. Other day, caught her sneaking into mine "OH MOM! When I wear yours, I get so many compliments." When Robert Ricci/Nina Ricci started the "Contractual" movement that no properties of PARFUM may ever be substitued, many perfumers followed that example. They may reformulate the EDP or EDT. Is this PARFUM Expensive ... yes! But one has to realize, just to import a lot of the essences, florals, etc. is, now, in keeping w. original formulation has become so cost prohibited. One prefers that as oppose to re-formulations. Look what they did to Chanel No. 5 Parfum. No contract. They got to mess w. its original formula. "We wanted to tweek a bit to update its appeal for younger audience." Hog-wash.!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TerriJobe from Shalimar What a timeless product. I have been using it for over twenty years. Each time I wear it, at least two people during the day will ask, "What is that fragrance you are wearing"? I recommend Shalimar to anyone that doesn't currently have a signature fragrance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Courtenay from I love Shalimar! When I was growing up, each Christmas my Dad bought my Mom a bottle of Shalimar perfume and each of us girls a bottle of cologne. It is the only scent I have ever worn, as I still do today. 60 years later.
