Republic is inspired by the Chippendale style, which flourished in the golden age of design in the 18th century. A graceful herringbone design and scroll and leaf motif re-create the harmony and symmetry of that era. The use of gold exclusively in Republic creates an opulent effect. Ruby enameled dots, hand applied with a skill known as "jeweling," further enhance the design.

Love the China. Did not like the fact that the bonus set was net to the 4 pc setting. Ordered the wrong setting then had buy the bowls.

great mixMostly use china at Xmas. Have six settings Republic and six settings Holiday to mix together...they're perfect together for twelve settings. Rest of year can use the Republic for small group if need be. Makes a great table!

Beautiful and practicalThis is lovely to look at. It also really worked well during the holidays. I put the potatoes on the table, covered, while I finished up something else. They stayed nice and hot; then we passed the dish using the handles, which stayed cool. And it's so beautiful! This is worth having.
