Change in quality :(My brown troopa boots have been my go to shoe for the past 2 years. I loved and wore them so much that I literally wore the sole out. Recently, I gave in and purchased the exact same pair online and was saddened to find how much the quality has changed since my last purchase. The brown is now much deeper and flat in color than their original boot. Even their stock photo shows a dimensional cognac brown color. The leather which was once soft and vintage feeling is now stiff and looks like pleather. The zipper which was once brass, is now made of plastic, and the laces which were once flat and stylish are now standard boot laces. These are not the boots I fell in love with. I will be returning them.

Love my TroopaI bought these boots about a year ago. They are my go to combat boots and I love them. I have wide feet and large calfs(calves)? so finding shoes is always a problem for me, especially when it comes to boots. I had been eyeing the Troopa for a while and finally decided to purchase them. I usually wear a size 7 or 7 1/2 depending on the shoe. I went to a size 8. When I originally bought them they were tight around my foot but as I wore them they stretched out a lot which isnt a bad thing but I could have gone with a size 7 1/2. So if you have wider feet id stick with a 1/2 bigger or maybe even your regular size shoe because with time these boots do stretch.

So cheap now!I bought the brown leather ones in November 2011 and I knew they were still good for another year or two, so I was excited to bust these babies out for this fall/winter. I rushed out the door once and zipped my left boot too fast and ended up splitting the zipper. Since it would cost too much to repair, I decided to buy another pair, since the price was so reasonable and I wear them all the time. However, the leather is SO thin now, and it barely stands up straight when they're not worn. I'm pretty angry that SM decided to cheap out on materials and still sell it for the same price. I will not be purchasing another pair like I had originally planned.

Wrong boots ???I ordered the troopa boots in black and as you can see in the pictures above the boot has a zipper color of what appears to be like a copper or faded golden color... Also the sole of the boot has some brown almost like a wooden color to it .... This was supposed to be a replacement pair to my first troopa boots that were damaged but the ones I recieved in the mail today are NOT the troopa boots they are all black even the zipper and the rings for the lace to go through are all black and the sole is COMPLETLY black so I am sending them back to try and get what I ordered originally

Thankyou Steve Madden!!!Seriously Steve Madden, thankyou for creating these boots! They are by far the best boots I have ever owned, really. Honestly I was reading through the reviews and I considered going a size up due to the fact that my feet are EXTREMELY wide (and when I say extremely I mean my feet look like someone took a peice of clay, threw it on the floor, then stuck my ankles to it.) But instead I went with my gut and ordered my normal size of 9.5 and they aren't too narrow at all. They fit perfectly. These are comphy, stylish, and the brown looks SO much better in person than it does in the picture. Its so vintage and so cute! I haven't taken these boots off sinse I got them!

I really liked these boots however....I love Steve Madden shoes! I am not ragging just trying to let people who have wide feet know that its too narrow. I Really wanted these boots and i asked my parents to get them for me. After the agreed we went to steve madden to purchase these shoes. I was saddened that they didn't fit, because they are too narrow. I was scared that the shoes would rip because of the amount of strain being put on them. I run a size 10w so i thought maybe trying on an 11 would be better. I tried them on but was faced with the same problem. They are adorable shoes but just a tad too narrow. Hopefully you will have more luck than i in getting these shoes Good luck! :)

Long foot McGee from
Best pair of combat style boots!I'd been on the hunt for a pair of light-colored combat style boots for a while. I'm also a size 11 so it made the search all that more difficult. I wore these the day they arrived. So easy to get in and out of. You can flop the sides and tongue down and scrunch your skinny jeans into them or lace them all the way up and then just use the side zipper. Other boots I have are always too narrow for my foot which isn't THAT skinny. I just wear one pair of fuzzy socks with these and they are perfect. I do add an insole at times as the arch support isn't all that great or cushioned. All together I LOVE these boots and will most likely order another color.

Cognac LeatherI purchased these in cognac leather in my typical size, size 11, and they are true to size. The color is a little different than I was expecting. They are pretty close to the color in which the model is wearing them, however, in the picture they appear solid, while in actuality, they have black in the cracks/wrinkles of the leather giving them a weathered look. They are also very stiff and sometimes hurt the bone on the outer side of my ankle. Overall, I do like them because they are very cute, but they are little different than expected.
