Rated 5 out of 5 by eros from Love this pan - wishing for a 6.5qt I was hesitant to pay for this thinking it would be too big and I wouldn't use it. After having it, I find that I always go for this one first. I even wish there was a 6.5 qt version of this pan. I have not experienced any warping or doming issues as other reviewers mention. I'm using it on a gas range (biggest burner). I usually pre-heat it empty starting on medium-low (3/10) then after a couple minutes bump it up to medium+ (6/10). After a couple minutes I add my oil, give it a moment for the oil to come to temp, and I'm ready to add the food. I adjust from there based on what I'm cooking. I have a full set of the tri-ply line (10 pans + 10 lids) and I love them all. I also have many of the Unison collection for non-stick occasions. I regret waiting so long to buy better pans--cooking is actually easier in decent pans. I chose these over competing brands/collections based on perceived build quality, price, and comfort of the handles.

This is the first time I decided to purchase a decent sauté pan that I can use for searing and pan sauces and after the very first use it warped! It's completely rounded on the bottom now and I am extremely disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amateur Chef Wannabe from Workhorse plan I picked this pan up and have put it through the wringer. I made stuffed chicken breast which I seared both sides on the stove top. Then I placed this pan in the oven at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Then I removed the chicken and returned it to the stove top to make a pan sauce. I have done this several times now and have been very happy with the result. No warping and cleanup was very easy. Although I know it is dishwasher safe, I prefer to hand wash since cleanup is so easy. Also, I want it to never lose it's shine. People comment that it looks like I don't use my stainless steel Calphalon cookware since they look brand new. Trust me, I definitely give them a workout. As an amateur cook I'll declare they probably get more abuse since I don't know what I'm doing. Everything I cook now turns out better and much more consistent due to the pan maintaining an even heat which allows you to cook at a lower heat than cheaper pans. I use dishwashing liquid initially, then use bar keepers friend for the shine. Then I dry and buff lightly with a paper towel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RogerMaslow from Great for searing! I had this as part of a large I purchased several years ago and it was used repeatedly for searing steaks and seafood. Sear the steaks, pop in the oven, pull out steak to rest, and sear your seafood. That easy. I'll be buying this again as it's large enough to do two t-bones simultaneously and it's great to cook whatever else you wish; also found it to be a great pan to cook meatballs and sauce in (easy to deglaze). I'm hoping the warping issue may be as simple as a bad batch of the alloy used in making some of stainless versus a design flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cookinmom from Great for stir fry I have had this big sauté pan for a few years now. I didn't use it much when I first got it, but my family has grown and it's great for making a nice big meal! I have had no issues or troubles at all with this pan. Sometimes, it's a bit heavy to lift a pan full of food by the handle, so I use oven gloves and lift with both handles and that works fine. We cook veggies in it, potato hash, stir fry, meats, and it all works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kristo from Excellent Overall I have had this pan for two years and love it! The cooking surface is so large that I have no problem cooking many things simultaneously. I have not had any warping issues. This was my fist Sauté pan with a glass lid and I think it is great! Being able to watch your food cook is fun as well as useful. After purchasing this pan it quickly became my "go to" pan and I believe it will become yours as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by louie from OK, but has issues I have had to return this pan 3 times now due to the bottom warping, creating an uneven heating surface. All of my other pans are fine, but this one keeps warping and I am very careful with it.
