Belk’s general return policy is very generous and remains at 180 days from date of purchase. A full refund of purchase price with a receipt to the original form of payment will be honored, with a few exceptions listed below.
Temporarily Policy Changes
Special Occasion Dresses: return window has been extended by 30 days to allow returns with receipts within 75 days of purchase. Dresses must be in original condition, with all tags attached. No refunds after 75 days.
Fine Jewelry: return window has been extended by 30 days to allow returns with receipts within 120 days of purchase.
Non-Returnable Items: To help keep our customers and associates safe in light of COVID-19, until further notice, Belk will not accept returns of the following specific item(s) unless such items are in original condition with all tags attached:
- Intimate Apparel

Return policy exceptions
What Goes Around Comes Around items are final sale. Although we try to select only the best vintage products, your What Goes Around Comes Around item may have irregularities and imperfections due to normal wear and tear. There are no returns or exchanges on your purchase in-store and online.
Mattress, furniture and rug returns will be accepted within 90 days of purchase with a receipt or packing slip. No refunds after 90 days.
We are unable to accept returns in store for the following products:
- Area Rugs (with one side 5-ft. or larger)
- Wall Art, Mirrors, Clocks or Picture Frames (30-inches or larger)
- Christmas Trees (10-ft. or larger or out of original box)

How to Return in Store
If your purchase was made through Curbside Pickup or was shipped from belk.com, you may also return by mail using the policy outlined in the How to Return by Mail section below.
Some of our stores are currently closed to customers and therefore we are not accepting returns at those stores during this time. Don't worry! We will be here to accept returns in those stores after they re-open as set forth in this policy.
How to Return By Mail
Belk is not able to accept returns via mail for items purchased at one of our store locations. If you wish to return merchandise purchased in a store and your local store is closed, please hold onto your merchandise and receipt until your store reopens.
Furniture items are not eligible for returns by mail. Please call Customer Service at 1-866-235-5443 for information on furniture returns.
To return item(s) purchased online by mail, please follow the three steps below:
- Step 1: On your packing slip, please indicate the appropriate reason for your return beside the item description.
- Step 2: Securely package the slip, your item and appropriate packing materials.*
- Step 3: Send your Belk.com return to:

We strongly recommend that you ship your package via Fedex or USPS insured services, so your shipment may be tracked to its final destination.
Belk will refund shipping and handling costs for returns only if: 1) your return contains defective merchandise or merchandise that was damaged during the initial shipping process; or 2) belk.com fulfillment is at fault due to shipping and/or handling errors.
*Belk cannot accept any merchandise that is damaged in shipment due to improper packing, so please repackage all items properly.
Apple Pay Returns
You can return items purchased via Apple Pay by sending them back to the fulfillment center or bringing them to any Belk store. For Apple Pay orders, you will need your order confirmation email or packing slip so the associate can scan the barcode to refund payment to the credit card used for your order. They will not be able to use the credit card to find the order information. The barcode can be found on:
- The Packing Slip that came with your order
- The Order Confirmation or Shipping Notification emails you received
- In your Belk.com account under My Orders
Any balance owed to you as a refund will go back to the original payment method you selected in your Apple Pay wallet to pay for your order.
To refund the full purchase price to your PayPal account, all in-store PayPal returns must include the order confirmation email or packing slip. For in-store PayPal returns without an order confirmation email or packing slip or that have been more than 180 days after date of purchase, we will refund the lowest sale price offered in the last 60 days as a credit to your Belk Rewards credit card or on a Belk gift card.
Most credits are posted to your personal credit card or Belk Rewards credit card within 15 business days from the time that your returned merchandise is received.
